For garden amateurs

Get involved!

Gardeners can also actively help to prevent introductions and spread of invasive plants. Get involved in the code of conduct for gardeners! Easy measures can be adopted:

                       1. Keep informed about the list of invasive plants in Belgium

                       2. Do not buy/plant invasive plants

                       3. Choose non invasive alternative plants

                       4. Do not throw garden waste in nature, rivers or wastelands

                       5. Share your knowledge and concern about invasive plants

How to subscribe to the code?

It is very easy. First read the recommendations mentioned above. If you agree about the content and accept to adopt it, you simply register you on the partner database (see Become a partner). By doing this, you will be officially part of gardeners engaged in the code of conduct on invasive plants. Your registration allows you to be located in a google map system. On this map you will see all other partners involved in the Code (see Partner already engaged).

Horticulture professionals involved in the code are also located in the database. Like you, they have decided to protect our biodiversity by subscribing to the code. Do not hesitate to contact them. They will be able to advise you in choosing the right plant for your garden. You will easily recognize them with the code of conduct logo (see above) and poster displayed in nurseries, garden centers, municipalities,... throughout Belgium. For more information, read the code of conduct folder.
